The Budapest Neutron Centre (BNC), with the 10 MW Budapest Research Reactor (BRR) is the largest research infrastructure in Central Europe and provides excellence-based open access to the national and international user community to most of its experimental stations. Currently, 16 experimental stations are offered in the user programme.
The User Office organises the open-access user programme and takes care of all needs of the scientists visiting the BNC. They can provide information and support regarding facilities, accommodations, and logistical issues.
Scientists planning experiments with neutrons are invited to submit a proposal. Regular BNC science proposals have two submission deadlines per year, April 15th and October 15th. These dates are announced through international mailing lists, social media channels, and the BNC website. The available instruments for each call may vary slightly due to technical reasons or accumulated backlog.
The international User Selection Panel (USP) reviews the submitted proposals and makes suggestion for beam time allocation. The User Office informs the proposer of the referee’s decision and coordinates the measurement dates.
